About the All-American:
This bonspiel is sponsored in part by the USWCA (United States Women’s Curling Association), which supplies the pins awarded to the first place team. The event is held throughout the country in USWCA member clubs.
Thank you for participating! Teams have been formed based on the positions requested in the sign-ups. We are thrilled to have three participants from San Francisco.
All teams will play three 8-end games, two on Saturday and one Sunday morning. Then, it’s all about points. Winners will be decided by a point system as follows:
Win: 5 pts
Ends won: 1 pt each
Rocks scored: ¼ pt each
Ties: 2.5 pts
Double take-out: 1 pt
ALL TEAMS must play all three games. Ends and Rocks will be counted through the 6th end only. This means that a team can concede a game after the 6th end, but not before.
A double take out requires that your rock removes from the house two opposing team rocks that were both in the house. (The “removed” rocks do not need to be out of play, just out of the house). If unclear, ask for a measure.
Skips must record their points and sign the scorecard, which will be at each sheet for each draw.
ALL teams can earn up to 5 extra points in the shootout after dinner. One team member will throw one rock (following one practice rock, which will not count). Another team member can hold the broom and others can sweep. Points awarded as follows:
Covering the pin: 5
Touching the button: 4 pts
Touching the 4-foot: 3 pts
Touching the 8-foot: 2 pts
Touching the 12-foot: 1 pt
Doug Potter will officiate the shootout.
The team with the most points at the end of the third game on Sunday will be the winner. If a tie remains between the top two positions, a second shootout between those top two teams will determine the winner.
Winning team members receive the coveted USWCA pin, engraved with the year you won. Three runner-up prizes also awarded. Wine (or non-alcoholic beverages) also part of the prizes.
