Current Leagues

The Granite Curling Club offers many leagues that cater to a wide range of skill levels and competitive interests. With so many choices, there's sure to be a league that's just right for you! Don't forget that curling is a social activity as well; after each game, teams head upstairs to chat, quench their thirst, and (depending on the league) eat.

Leagues are divided into two types: Manager's Choice (MC) and Skip's Choice (SC). For Manager's Choice leagues, curlers sign up as couples or individuals and the league manager puts them together into balanced teams based on skill levels and experience; for Skip's Choice leagues, curlers form a team and sign up as a team. You may have any ratio of men and women on a team, playing positions in any order, except for the Wednesday Women's, Thursday Men's, Thursday Mixed Doubles, and Sunday Mixed leagues. If you're new to curling, you'll want to start with a Manager's Choice league, such as the Sunday Open league.

In the list below, multiple game times mean you will play at one of the times listed depending on the week. Schedules are available prior to the start of league play, and all leagues have a substitute roster in case you need to miss a game.

See the fees for membership and leagues here.

If you can’t decide which league is right for you, send an email to the Leagues Coordinator and we’ll be glad to help you choose.

2017-2018 Tuesday Open Supper League 5:00pm

Tuesday Supper League (also known as Tuesday Open) is a fun social league where curling teams are mixed up week by week - but the important thing is that everyone is on a consistent Supper team! It's an excellent league for new curlers, since you'll get to play with a lot of different people who can each teach you something new about the game. Supper teams take turns making meals for the league and eat while watching the Super League which happens right after their league time. This league might just be the most fun league at Granite!

2017-2018 Sunday Mixed 6:00pm, 8:00pm

This league uses the true mixed format, which is two men and two women per team. You can sign up as a team, or as an individual and the league manager will put you on a team. The league has a wide variety of skill levels and is great for experienced and newer curlers.
League Manager: Peter Sommer

2017-2018 Sunday Novice 12:00pm

This casual league is a great place to learn the sport of curling and improve your skills. All are welcome, but curlers with less than two years of experience or who have never had a class will benefit most and will have priority. For each session, we spend the first half learning a drill targeting a specific skill; the second half we play a game where you can try playing a new position. Teams change week-by-week. This league only meets on certain Sundays; check the club calendar. Ask the league manager if you have questions about whether this is right for you!
League Manager: Richard Palmason

2017-2018 Friday Juniors 4:30pm

Open to all curlers under 21 years of age - we pick this league by default for all Junior members.
League Manager: Lisa Rauliuk

2017-2018 Monday Open 6:30pm, 8:30pm

Monday Open is a great way to start your week! It's a very social league that has both new and experienced curlers. Teams are formed by the league manager to create balanced competition across the league. Requests to play with another person can usually be honored. Teams are mixed up halfway through the season. Teams take turns bringing in dinner for the league.
League Manager: Kara McBroom

2017-2018 Wednesday Women 6:30pm, 8:30pm

A great social league for women that has a wide range of skill levels. Come in either as a fully-formed team, or as an individual. Teams take turns providing dinner for the league.
League Manager: Cathie Tomlinson

2017-2018 Thursday Morning Open 10:00am

A great league if you have a flexible work schedule, are a stay-at-home parent, or are retired and have a few hours to spare. It's a great league for curlers of all abilities and is very welcoming to brand new curlers. The curling is followed by lunch and you can be on your way by no later than 1:00PM. Some lunches follow a seasonal theme like Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, or St Patrick's Day but most are just a plain old hardy lunch to enable you to socialize with your fellow curlers and then get you on your way for the balance of your day.
League Manager: Chris Fulkerson

2017-2018 Friday Open 6:30pm, 8:30pm, 10:30pm

A fun way to kick off your weekend with players of all experience levels. Sign up as a full team or as an individual/pair and be placed on a team, this is relaxed fun curling where hanging out after the game is just as important as the game itself. The late games, plus after-game festivities, run well past midnight.

2017-2018 Thursday Men 7:00pm, 9:00pm

A friendly, semi-competitive league that's great for curlers who have a year or more of experience. The league divides into flights midway through the season based on win/loss records, so teams should have great, competitive games throughout the season.
