COVID-19

GCC COVID-19 Policy

Effective 09/07/2022

Introduction

The Granite Curling Club is striving to make this season as normal as possible with no planned modifications to gameplay or leagues. To make it through this season safely, without the need for additional restrictions, we need everyone to be responsible and adhere to these guidelines. If risk levels become higher locally or we have evidence that these precautions are not sufficient, the Board will take whatever steps necessary to allow the club to operate safely.

General

  • If you are sick or are in close contact to a known positive COVID case, stay home, and get tested.
  • If you tested positive for COVID-19, you must not enter the club until all of the following have been met consistent with CDC’s shortened isolation period recommendation:
    • 5 full days have passed. Day 0 is your first day of symptoms or a positive viral test. Day 1 is the first full day after your symptoms developed or your test specimen was collected.
    • 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications, and
    • other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving
  • If you are uncomfortable with handshakes, you can bump fists, "chicken wing", tip your cap, or wave from afar.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at several locations around the building.

Vaccination

  • Vaccinated Individuals 12 years of age and older
    • All those 12 years of age and older are encouraged to be vaccinated. Individuals not vaccinated must follow the testing and exemption requirements as described below.
    • An optional pre-verification process exists for vaccinated GCC members and guests who regularly visit GCC such as parents and guardians of Junior members.
      • After showing a GCC Board member or designated representative proof of vaccination status (see King County Vaccine Verification Guidance above for acceptable forms), GCC will designate the individual as “Pre-Verified” and will note as such in GCC’s records.
      • Pre-verified vaccinated individuals may enter the building without having to show their vaccination documentation.
      • However, pre-verified members may be asked to show personal identification should the GCC representative running the activity (e.g., league manager, Learn to Curl host) not recognize the individual.
    • Vaccinated individuals who are not pre-verified must still show proof of vaccination prior to entering the building.
  • Unvaccinated Individuals 12 years of age and older
    • Individuals entering the building, including GCC members and guests, who are not vaccinated must provide a negative COVID test result prior to entering the building. The individual may choose from one of the following testing protocols:
      • an at-home rapid antigen test that is provided by the individual. The test must be administered within 24 hours of the event and monitored either by video or in-person by a GCC Board member or the GCC representative responsible for the activity.
      • a rapid antigen test administrated by a health professional, either in-person or via telepresence, taken within 48 hours and proof shown to the GCC representative running the activity
      • a PCR test administered by a health professional, either in-person or via telepresence, taken within 72 hours and proof shown to the GCC representative running the activity.
      • for unvaccinated guests attending a Group Events or Learn to Curl event, at-home rapid antigen testing that is administered on-site or by video is not an available option. All unvaccinated guests attending these events must provide rapid antigen or PCR test results from a health professional, as noted above.
    • Unvaccinated GCC members must also seek a medical or religious exemption to the vaccination requirement.
      • Those seeking a medical exemption must provide documentation from their physician or other medical professional indicating that the individual is unable to receive the vaccine due to medical reasons.
      • Those seeking a religious exemption must provide documentation from the leader of their faith indicating that vaccination is not permitted by their faith.
      • The exemption documentation above will be shown to the GCC member responsible for running the activity. GCC members only need to show this documentation once, as it will be noted for future reference.
  • For individuals under the age of 12, proof of a negative COVID test result is not required.

Masks

  • Masks are recommended, not required, for all members and guests regardless of vaccination status.
  • Disposable masks will be available for a $1 suggested donation at the front desk for those that forgot their personal mask.

Contact Tracing

  • Any member or guest testing positive should notify the club immediately by emailing covid@curlingseattle.org so we can notify other members of the dates and times when you were at the club recently.
    • Names will not be released unless explicitly permitted by the person testing positive.
    • Notices about any positive case will be sent to all members and guests that were in the building at the impacted dates and times.

Junior League

  • Members unaffiliated with the Friday Junior league are asked to avoid the club between 4:00pm and 6:15pm on Friday.
  • Parents and guardians of curlers are encouraged to pre-verify their vaccination status as detailed above.
