Balance of Regular Season Closure Due to COVID-19

March 12, 2020 - 12:05pm -- Phil Shryock

After much consideration, the GCC Board has decided to cease all activities at the club for the regular season, with the exception of those that contribute to existing national and international competitive commitments.

Based on this, the following specific GCC activities are canceled immediately:
• Ladies Spiel
• April Spiel
• all league games
• all rentals
• all practice ice
Close-out details, such as spiel refunds and league rankings, for each of the activities above will be emailed in the next few days from the respective coordinators to the participants.

Conversely, throughout the closure period a limited amount of ice time will be permitted for those GCC members that will be participating in the following national and international events:
• 2020 World Senior Curling Championship in Kelowna, Canada - practice time only for GCC teams
• 2020 Pacific International Cup in Richmond, Canada - both practice time and the Washington PIC Playdowns
During this limited competition time, both the bar and the entire upstairs area will be closed. Teams will be expected to leave the club promptly after finishing their game, as well as follow all standard and GCC-specific precautionary measures (e.g., washing hands, wiping rock handles).

For those members that need to access their locker, the club will be open during the PIC Playdowns from March 21 - 23. If you need access to the club outside of these dates, please reach out to the Board at board@curlingseattle.org. A Board member will coordinate a date and time to open the building for you.

Our hope is that COVID-19 will be quickly controlled and we'll be able to open the club in time for spring league. As the situation evolves, we'll keep you informed on the timing of spring league and Summer Spiel.

Your patience and understanding during this trying time is very much appreciated. Please reach out to the entire GCC Board at board@curlingseattle.org with any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,

Phil Shryock
