Holiday Spiel

Doug Potter, Bonspiel Chair

Rules of Play

8 end games, 4 rock free guard zone in effect.

Tied games – if the game is tied after 8 ends, play one extra end if time permits.  After that, skips shoot out (closest to the button with sweepers) to determine the winner.  No practice shot allowed.  If needed, see the bonspiel chair or his representative about whether time permits.

Draw Double Prize (Friday & Saturday only)

On Saturday, if your team scores a double, put the double marker (star shaped balloon) next to your sheet.  The team with the marker at the end of a draw wins a pitcher of beer.  See the bonspiel chair for your voucher.

A double removes two of your opponents’ stones from the house to out of the house.

There is an appropriate substitution for Junior teams.

Team Picture

Please cooperate in having your team’s picture taken before or after your first game.  You may send me a picture if you prefer.

Blind Calcutta

Teams can purchase an entry in the Blind Calcutta for $20.  I will sell left over entries starting Saturday morning if they are available.  Payout is $340 -That’s almost as good as winning the A event!  Payout does depend on receiving 34 entries.

Banquet

Saturday night from 6:15pm to 7:30pm.  Extra dinner tickets can be purchased from me for $15 per person.  Canyon’s restaurant is the caterer.  The menu is BBQ Baby Back Ribs, grilled BBQ Chicken breast, Mashed Potatoes, and Cole Slaw.

Food

There is food available throughout the spiel.  Be sure to thank Cindy Kozai and her helpers for all of it – and for the dessert at dinner.

Return of the ugly sweater contest

Due to popular demand, the ugly sweater contest returns.  Prizes for ugliest team and ugliest individual.  Wearing sweaters while playing increases your chance of winning (exposure you know).  Having your sweaters shed onto the ice loses points.

I’ll have a prize for best team name.

All prize criteria are arbitrary and capricious.

Sunday morning draw

I’m sorry about the early draw on Sunday morning – 6:45.  Think of it as part of the curling ambiance.  You didn’t expect to sleep this weekend did you?  Please direct any complaints to the scheduling mavens – we have to be off the ice at 2:00 pm.
