GCC Privacy Policy

The Granite Curling Club of Seattle (“GCC”) has adopted this privacy policy to provide a clear understanding of how we collect and handle information from those interacting with us through our various websites and services.

Information We Collect

We collect personally identifiable information only to provide the services you request.

To subscribe to our mailing lists and receive our news and updates, we collect your e-mail address and optionally your full name.

For non-members participating in our events, including at open houses, group events, and bonspiels, we collect the name and contact information (e-mail address and/or phone number) of the primary contact, as well as the names of all event attendees.

For GCC members, we collect your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, and optional demographic information. We may collect date of birth to verify eligibility for certain age-restricted events or types of membership.

For anyone entering the ice arena, we collect the name and phone number of a person to be contacted in case of emergency.

For any services which require payment, we collect information necessary to process the payment.

For all entering our facilities, we collect COVID-19 vaccination status and date of completed vaccination series to verify compliance with our vaccination policies. For GCC Members, we retain this information for the duration of the registration year. For all others, the information is verified and retained only for the duration of your visit.

What We Do with Your Information

We use the information you have given us to administer and provide the services you requested. We may also use your information to improve our services and to inform you about those improvements and other services you may be interested in.

Emergency contact information is used only in case of injury or other health emergency.

Where We Share Your Information

We do not share your personally identifiable information with others, except as specifically outlined in this policy.

For GCC members only, we may share your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number with other GCC members, via an online or printed membership directory, exclusively for personal, non-commercial use. You may control the sharing of your information with other members through your GCC member account profile at

For league, bonspiel, or tournament participants, we share your name, team name, and home curling club in schedules, standings, and results posted publicly online or at our facilities.

Financial Information

We do not retain any credit card information from our customers. We utilize third-party companies to collect and process credit card payments on our behalf. Online payments through our website are redirected to PayPal who collects and processes those payments directly. In-person payments via credit card are processed by Square. In cases where you provide us payment information via mail or phone, that information is kept only until being passed to our payment processor and then promptly removed from our records.

Collection of Information from Children Under the Age of 13

We do not knowingly collect or use personal information about children unless we have received parental consent to do so. All children under the age of 18 require consent of a parent or guardian to become a member or register to participate in our events.

Social Media

We will not request personally identifiable information via social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)  However, if you interact with us via social media, we may use any information you have made public via your social media profiles to provide you with a response or targeted advertising. 

Video and Audio Recording

By entering the ice arena, you may be recorded and/or streamed live to our public webcasting sites. You also may be recorded via security cameras throughout any public area of our facility or grounds. Access to security camera recordings is only granted in conjunction with an investigation of potential security or liability concerns.

Use of Cookies on our Website

Our website uses cookies to customize and improve your experience. Cookies are text files we place in your computer's browser to save information. We use cookies to understand site usage and to improve the content and offerings on the site. For example, we use cookies to personalize your experience at the site (e.g., to recognize you by name when you return to the site), save your password in password-protected areas, and enable you to use shopping carts on the site. By accessing our website, we automatically collect and log your IP address. We may use your IP address for the purpose of system administration, usage auditing, and diagnosing performance issues. We do not normally link IP addresses to personally identifiable information, however, we may do so when necessary to investigate claims of illegal use of the site or as otherwise required by law.

Do Not Track

We do not track our users over time or across third-party websites. As such, we do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals from your web browser.

Security of Our Information

Our website uses the industry-standard TLS 1.3 for encrypted communication between our server and your browser. Your information is stored securely in a password-protected database accessible only to our authorized administrators. We do not collect or store any financial information directly on our website.

Revisions to this Policy

Information we collect is governed by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such time information is collected. We may revise this policy from time to time. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you of those changes by e-mail or other notification and update the “Last Updated” date to indicate when those changes will become effective.
