Nominations are Open for New GCC Board of Trustee Members

August 12, 2020 - 8:53pm -- Lori Markham

Greetings GCC Community,

In just 15 days, GCC will be having its first all-virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM)! One of the many great things about the AGM is that it allows the general membership to elect four Board of Trustees members. This year will be especially important... who you elect will have the privilege of helping to determine when and how the club will reopen.

The Board is responsible for setting strategic priorities, allocating resources, and seeing to the day to day operations. In addition to working together as a team to accomplish overall GCC activities (like the reopening), each Board member focuses on a specific aspect of the club such as house, outreach, and leagues. To give you an idea of how this works, here's a description of these roles and an overview of how the Board operates.

In the pre-COVID "old days", we would get together at the AGM and vote for the new Board members in-person. There really isn't a way to do this without violating a few public health ordinances, so instead we're going to try something new .. online voting!

Here's how its going to work:
• Starting now and for the next 7 days, any General Member can nominate themselves using the web button below. You can also nominate someone else, in which case I will reach out to that nominee to confirm they're interested.

NOMINATE A GCC MEMBER TO THE BOARD!

• At 11 pm PDT on Wednesday, August 19th, the nomination period closes.
• On Thursday, August 20th, online voting begins! Instructions will be sent to all 2019/20 members to access the voting web-ballot on the GCC web site. Before then, you may want to use this time to verify that there's no problems with your GCC log-in.
• At 8 pm PDT on August 27th - during the AGM - voting will close. GCC voting tabulators will get busy and the results will be announced to the curling world at the end of the AGM. The top 4 vote-getters join Ethan Bradford, Lisa Rauliuk, Ryan Doerfler, Phil Shryock, and myself to be the new GCC Board of Trustees!
While you're pondering who to nominate, take a moment to complete your AGM RSVP using the handy button below:

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone (virtually) again in 2 weeks! Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself and the entire GCC Board at board@curlingseattle.org with any questions.
