GCC Sweeping Clinic - Registration Open, Spots Limited

GCC members, Kaitie Kovach and Sam Sparks, will lead two 90-minute sweeping clinics this fall, one focused on sweeping basics and the other on directional sweeping. There will be two sessions (9 am and 10:30 am) per clinic with a maximum of 16 slots. Click here to register for a session.

Knock the Dust Off - Registration Closes on Monday, October 2 at 8 am

Are you looking for a bonspiel as a warm-up for the season? Are you new to curling and wanting to get a tournament under your belt? Are you an experienced curler who wants to share your love of the sport? Join us for our Annual Knock the Dust Off Bonspiel, scheduled for October 7-8, 2023. Registration is individual, as bonspiel coordinators will form balanced teams from the participant pool. Teams are guaranteed six, 4-end games throughout the weekend. Save the Date: USA Curling Member's Assembly

Mark your calendars for USA Curling's Annual Assembly from October 13-14, 2023. The assembly will be hosted in Bloomington, MN; however, all activities will be streamed and available through USA Curling's YouTube channel. On Friday, October 13 at 5 pm (PT), there will be an Annual Members’ Meeting. The Annual Members’ Meeting will include a vote to ratify changes to the bylaws of the organization related to the proposed new USA Curling Membership Model. The amended bylaws, approved by the Board of Directors on September 11, 2023, and resources can be found below. On October 14 from 8-2 pm (PT), there will be programming that includes seminars and panel discussions related to Member Club operations, outreach, retention, skills development, awards presentations, and more.

Job Opening: Group Events Assistant Coordinator

The Group Events Assistant Coordinator role is a part-time position aimed at helping the coordinator provide the best possible experience for our staff and clients. You will play a vital role in making Granite Curling Club the foremost curling events destination in the region! The position runs for ~10 months out of the year with minimal work over the summer while the curling club is closed. The employee is expected to complete a minimum of 6 hours of admin duties per week (during the season), and when interested/available, they can collect additional working hours as a host or instructor at our events. As a result of these requirements, the assistance coordinator is expected to work 2-5 days per week and on an as-needed basis to cover for the coordinator when they are unavailable, out of town, etc. The wage for this position is $23.00 per hour.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Answer Group Events email and voicemail
  • Ensure payment is received for group events through Square and the booking page, including any spectator or cancellation fees
  • Coordinate booking page content and reservations through SquareSpace
  • Coordinate staff including training and shift scheduling
  • Manage the Kraken events per the contract when the GEC is not available
  • Respond to staff questions or concerns and redirect to the Coordinator or GCC Board when appropriate
  • Respond to customer questions or concerns and redirect to the Coordinator or GCC Board when appropriate
  • Create and maintain training and safety materials
  • Assist with rental data collection and record-keeping
  • Assist coordinator in any tasks or issues, as needed

General registration for Granite Curling Club opens on September 4 at 6 pm, and closes on September 14 at 8 pm. If you've never been a member before, you'll need to apply for an account on our website before registering for leagues and bonspiels (see membership). Account approval can take a day, so don't wait until the last minute.

    All new members are encouraged to attend GCC Member Orientation, scheduled for Saturday, September 23 from 6-7 pm. Come learn all about the club, the ice, how to get connected, and how to make the most of your membership. Orientation is open to anyone and will be held upstairs in the warm room. It'll be followed by a Member Social where all current members are invited to enjoy the open bar and a showing of Men with Brooms. We also encourage any new members to participate in our Knock Off the Dust Bonspiel, scheduled for October 7-8, 2023. This is an annual spiel all about meeting new peeps and providing a mixer for people to find potential teammates for future spiels; entry is individual sign-up.

    Registration for PNWCA 5&U Opens on Friday, September 1 (8 am)

    Registration for Pacific Northwest Curling Association's 3rd Annual 5 & Under is opening this Friday, September 1st at 8 am. This event, scheduled for November 18-20, 2023 at Granite Curling Club is expected to be very popular this season, so sign up early. Priority event registration is open to teams from PNWCA member clubs until 5 pm on September 15th.

    Upcoming Pebbling Clinics

    Calling all GCC Members: Our spectacular ice crew is hosting multiple pebbling clinics over the next few weeks. Don't miss your opportunity to participate.
