Team Sherry, Team Zheng Winners of PNWCA Club Men's and U18 Championship

January 17, 2022 - 4:29pm -- Bryan Pittard

This weekend brought out the best in our two new Pacific Northwest Regional Champions. The U-18 boys team, coached by Chris Sherry and skipped by Bowen Zheng, with Alexander Lee, Wangzi Ge and Andrew Bell bested the U-18 Boys from Evergreen in three straight wins. They are now headed to the U18 Nationals in Fort Wayne, IN. The Club Men's winners took the long road to their victory – a total of six games. With five teams playing, the top two teams at the end of the round robin were skipped by Erik Sanders (4-0) and Greg Schatzman (3-1). The playoff followed with Schatzman, Chris Sherry, Jeffrey Bruce, and Tim Eng winning the first game and the second game. The ice was excellent and great shots were made by all teams.

Thanks to chief umpire Dom Arico and a crew of officials and timers for keeping everything rolling, the ice crew who got up early and scraped before every draw, and the teams who drove up from Portland to make this a true regional event. Next up is the mixed playdown at Evergreen starting on Friday, 1/21/2022.
