Leagues

The Granite Curling Club offers many leagues that cater to a wide range of skill levels and competitive interests. With so many choices, there's sure to be a league that's just right for you! Don't forget that curling is a social activity as well! After each game, teams head upstairs to chat, quench their thirst, and (depending on the league) eat.

Leagues are divided into two types: Manager's Choice (MC) and Skip's Choice (SC). For Manager's Choice leagues, curlers sign up as couples or individuals and the league manager puts them together into balanced teams based on skill levels and experience. For Skip's Choice leagues, curlers form a team and sign up as a team. If you're new to curling, you'll want to start with a Manager's Choice league.

In the list below, multiple game times mean you will play at one of the times listed depending on the week. Schedules are available prior to the start of league play, and all leagues have a substitute roster in case you need to miss a game.

See the fees for membership and leagues here.

To register, login to your account and go to the 'Leagues' tab. To get added to a sub list, login to your account and go to the 'Sub Lists' tab.

If you can’t decide which league is right for you, send an email to the Leagues Coordinator and we’ll be glad to help you choose.

2022-2023 Sunday Novice
1:00pm (varies in the few Spring sessions) Sep 11 2022 to May 14 2023

This casual league is a great place to learn the sport of curling, as these sessions focus on supporting the skill development of novices. Curlers with less than three years of experience or who have never had a class will benefit most. At each meeting, we spend the first half learning drills targeting specific skills, and the second half playing pick-up games where you can try playing a new position. Teams change week-by-week. The cost of this league is included in your membership. This league only meets on certain Sundays, so check the club calendar. Ask the league managers if you have questions about whether this is right for you!

2022-2023 Wednesday Women's
7:00pm, 9:00pm Sep 14 2022 to Apr 12 2023

Wednesday Night Women’s League is a fun, hybrid league for women-identifying curlers who are interested in developing their skills, socializing, and playing some great games. In honor of the spirit of curling and the goal of establishing a welcoming environment for all, we are splitting the league into two pools: a semi-competitive pool (i.e., Skip’s Choice) and a non-competitive, social pool (i.e., Manager’s Choice). Curlers interested in the semi-competitive pool can sign up as a full team, whereas curlers interested in the non-competitive, social pool can sign up as an individual or pair. Teams from both pools will play each other throughout the season; however, a team’s record will only count within their pool. The season will end with a playdown within each pool.

Based on survey feedback, we are transitioning away from full meals, but teams are encouraged to bring snacks postgame to share with their competitors. Pending player interest, managers will incorporate occasional mini-skills clinics on a monthly basis before games.
