Annual General Meeting Announcement and Proxy Form

April 17, 2013 - 11:47am -- James Sullivan

Greetings fellow members,
As we move into May, some annual rites come to pass. The April Spiel is over, the first games of spring league have been played, the Finance Committee is discussing the budget and the Granite Curling Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) is rapidly approaching. It is important that you take the time to either attend the AGM or complete a proxy form. This can be found in the General Minute section of the website or check your email. You can also submit your proxy electronically by following the link below.

The Granite Curling Club Annual meeting will be held on May 11th 2012 at the club. Cocktails start at 5pm and dinner at 6pm. The cost is $25 per person. Please RSVP at gccannualmeeting@curlingseattle.org by May 6th and send in your payment to the Granite Curling Club so we can get an accurate head count for dinner.
At the AGM we will review the state of the club; approve the 2013/2014 budget; approve any major expenditures (i.e. the new cooling tower); and award the various league winners their Crystal. We will also be electing 4 new board members.

If you are unable to attend please take a minute and fill out the proxy form and assign your vote to a Granite board member. We require 20% of our membership to vote. Without a quorum we will be unable to proceed with any of our plans that require approval from the membership. If you don’t want to join us for dinner, but still want to attend the meeting, that is perfectly fine. The meeting will commence at 6:45 pm and will last approximately one hour followed by the league awards. If you would rather be a hip 21st century schizoid man, here is a link for the on-line proxy form:

If you are interested in becoming a board member, please let us know as soon as possible. While we will always allow nominations from the floor, in order to prepare ballots in advance, we’d like to know who’s interested. We also have a nominating committee (created by the board), that makes recommendations to the board. Serving on the board is a privilege, but it requires time and effort, so please talk with any board member is you are considering running for the board.

Our club is close to capacity and in good shape financially but there are still many things that require attention. We will share our preliminary plans for the summer and the 2013/2014 season at the meeting. I hope to see you there.
Good curling,
Jim Sullivan
