Officiating Clinic - November 17th

November 11, 2012 - 9:14pm -- Joe Roberts

On Saturday, November 17th GCC will be hosting a Level I and II officiating clinic to train new (and refresh current) officials on everything you need to know to officiate at a USCA curling event. This is also a great opportunity for newer curlers to help the club out, and to learn the ins-and-outs of the rules of curling. We really will be needing timers for many of the events coming up, it's fun and you get the best seats in the house to watch the games.

Obtaining USCA certification requires taking the officiating course, as well as practical experience gained through actual officiating. This year GCC will be hosting the Women's Nationals Challenge Round in January, which will provide plenty of experience-gaining opportunities. Our club depends on providing qualified volunteer officials to officiate these and similar events.

The cost of the clinic is $15, which is the fee to register you as an official with the USCA. Any currently registered official who wishes to attend the clinic as a refresher may do so at no cost (but please let us know that you plan to attend).

The USCA is handling registration for this clinic, which can be found at: http://www.sportssignup.com/united-states-curling-association-online-reg...
