Annual General Meeting Announcement and Proxy Form

Greetings fellow members,
As we move into May, some annual rites come to pass. The April Spiel is over, the first games of spring league have been played, the Finance Committee is discussing the budget and the Granite Curling Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) is rapidly approaching. It is important that you take the time to either attend the AGM or complete a proxy form. This can be found in the General Minute section of the website or check your email. You can also submit your proxy electronically by following the link below.

USA wins two in a row in Men's World Curling Championship to improve to 3-4

Tuesday proved to be a much better day for Team USA (GCC members Brady Clark, Sean Beighton, Darren Lehto, Philip Tilker) at the 2013 World Men's Curling Championships with a win over both China and Scotland.

April Spiel set for April 11th to 14th

GCC U-18 boys team heading north for Optimist International Championships

The Granite Curling Club's junior boys under-18 team will be heading north on Wednesday, March 27th to participate in the 2013 Optimist International U18 Curling Championships at the Langley and Cloverdale Curling Clubs. The Optimist U18 Championship is the premier tournament for U18 teams throughout the world, and features some of the top young curlers from Canada, The United States and Japan.

Spring Leagues - Beware the Ides of March

Hello Curlers!
With the new year upon us it’s time to start thinking about spring leagues. As with previous years, spring leagues are dependent on participation. For this reason it is very important to submit your registration before March 15th.

Ladies USWCA All American Spiel Canceled

Due to insufficient entries, this spiel that was scheduled for March 23/24 has been canceled.

5 & Under Spiel begins Saturday

The 5 & Under Spiel is set to begin bright and early Saturday morning at 8:30am. This format is different than the "normal" spiel as each game is only 4 ends, everyone must place all positions at least once and is based on points earned. 60 curlers will be taking to the ice looking to take home the crystal so come on down and cheer them on. Spectators are always welcome.

GCC's Team Clark headed to World Championships in Victoria

The World Championships will be in nearby Victoria, BC March 30-April 7th, and the GCC's Team Clark will be on the ice as "Team USA." Here is a link to the Men's world Championship schedule; http://www.curling.ca/championships/worlds/drawschedule/

Team Clark becomes Team USA and wins a slot at Olympic trials

Imagine that - Brady Clark wins another national championship! But this was his first men's championship. Brady, Sean Beighton, Darren Lehto, and Philip Tilker assured themselves a slot at the Olympic trials with their incredibly close semi-final win on Friday evening. Today, they won a trip to the world championships in Victoria with a 6-5 victory over Team George in the final. Not to make it too easy, Clark and company gave up three in the eighth to trail by one. Then they blanked the ninth and took two in the tenth for the win.

Ladies USWCA All American Spiel March 23/24

Registration is open for the Ladies All-American Spiel. USWCA members register as individuals and the spiel chair forms the teams. Please note which position(s) you're able to play. This bonspiel is for all women curlers at Granite because you are all USWCA members. USWCA membership is the main requirement; it is not limited to U.S. citizens. We also welcome USWCA members from other west-coast teams. Sign up now! Deadline to register is March 1st.
