December Update to GCC's Reopening

I hope this email finds you safe and sound. As we enter the holiday season, I am truly grateful for those who continue to help GCC despite our inability to curl and enjoy each other's company in person. As of today, GCC has received over $$48,000 in donations from members and other individuals!
Donate to the Granite Curling Club COVID Relief
Greetings. We hope that all members, families, and friends of the Granite Curling Club of Seattle are staying safe and remaining in good health and good spirits during these challenging times.
Congratulations to new board members Kathy Justice, Dominic Arico, Jessica Schultz, and Will Dimmit. They join current board members Ryan Doerfler, Lori Markham, Phil Shryock, Ethan Bradford, and Lisa Rauliuk to form next year's board. 227 peopled voted online from August 20th through the first half of the online Annual Meeting on August 27th.

Hold the virtual presses ... there's been a last minute change in our ballot!
Three of our Board candidates - Kara McBroom, Emily Good, and MacAllan Guy - have unfortunately withdrawn for this year's election. Candidates you can vote for now are : Charlie Anthe, Dominic Arico, Will Dimmit, Kathy Justice, Scott McLean, Jeff Pearson, Bryan Pittard, and Jessica Schultz.
The GCC voting web site has been changed to reflect these changes. If you voted for Em, Kara, or Mac, you can change your votes by revisiting the voting page.
Voting is now open to elect new GCC Board of Trustees members! Vying for the four (4) open Board positions, we have 11 fantastic candidates (in alphabetical order by last name):

In just 15 days, GCC will be having its first all-virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM)! One of the many great things about the AGM is that it allows the general membership to elect four Board of Trustees members. This year will be especially important... who you elect will have the privilege of helping to determine when and how the club will reopen.

Many thanks to everyone that completed last month's COVID-19 survey! Your responses (which you can also view at this Adobe Acrobat file) were enlightening and inspiring. While there were a wide range of preferences on how and when to return to the ice, a common element was that reopening needed to happen in a safe manner.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and enjoying the summer sunshine! With King County achieving Phase 2 of the Washington State's Safe Start Plan, this is a good time to let everyone know the Board's thinking about GCC's reopening relative to Phase 3 and 4.
As many of you have suspected or even heard, our Granite Curling Club is now closed for the balance of the season. Given the rapid movement of this global crisis, the Board has been working diligently behind the scenes, meeting and corresponding frequently over the past several weeks. With the increasing severity of this crisis in our overall community, it did not seem realistic that we could be back up and running in a reasonable time frame to make the rest of the season viable.
